James Faust’s Disregard for Isaiah’s Warning

Ensign, ‘Lord, I Believe; Help Thou Mine Unbelief’, November 2003 “The gap between what is popular and what is righteous is widening. As prophesied by Isaiah, many today “call evil good, and good evil.” Revelations from the prophets of God are not like offerings at the cafeteria, some to be selected and others disregarded. We are greatly indebted to the Prophet Joseph Smith for the many great revelations which came through him. He was without peer in restoring spiritual knowledge.” — James E. Faust

Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

If Mr. Faust is correct, why does the Church teach that sin isn’t a transgression? We wrote about this in an article Sin is Not Transgression. Two of the references we listed come from their own canon and both contradict the teachings of Mr. Faust –

Moses 5:11 “And Eve, his wife, heard all these things and was glad, saying: Were it not for our transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the obedient.”

2 Nephi 2:25 “Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.”

Furthermore, why is he using the passage in Isaiah when they don’t believe the Bible has been translated correctly?

Oh, what a tangled web they weave…

Lastly beloved, it seems Joe Smith was guilty of picking revelations he wanted to obey while disregarding others. If that wasn’t true, we wouldn’t be dealing with this topic today.

While Mr. Faust gave his talk almost twenty years ago, the Church is propagating the same thing today. His talk was merely one in the long list of repetitive lies they’ve told since the days of Joseph Smith. Please, don’t forget to pray for those who feel trapped in the lies of their heritage, and for Jesus to release them now!

With Love in Christ –—
