This prophecy was given between 520 and 518 BC, and fulfilled c. 31 AD.
You can read about it in Luke 19:35-37. Imagine being there as Jesus came into town on that donkey and being amongst the throngs of people waving their palm branches! What a sight to behold! And they knew. They knew it was a fulfillment of Zechariah’s prophecy given more than 500 years earlier. The priests knew, the Israelites knew, and even the Roman Emperors knew. They had waited so long for this very moment, and what was Jesus’ demeanor?
He wept.
Luke 19:41 “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it.”
Friends, understand that weeping isn’t just wiping away a tear stained eyelash. No! The dictionary says it means to sob. It’s the kind of crying that causes your upper body to shake. He loved them that much, just as He loves us today.
Today we’re asking if Joe Smith loved the Mormon people as much. We’re venturing to say, probably not, especially when he claimed to be God and no one could receive salvation without him. Today you could ask the Mormon you know if Joseph was prophesied about like Jesus. How could Smith be the Savior when the Bible says it’s Jesus? For other examples of this see
