Conference Quote: Stay Even with Broccoli Doubts

General Conference, ‘Fear Not: Believe Only!’ April 2022 “Young adults—and senior couples as well—serve missions by the thousands at their own expense with no say whatsoever as to where they will labor, and members young and old trundle off to temples to perform sacred ordinances necessary to bind the human family together— …

God promised He would, out of a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, guide prophets, give an iron rod, open a narrow gate leading to a strait path, and above all grant us the power to finish the course. So please, please, stay for the whole feast even if you are not sure about the broccoli.” — Jeffrey Holland

Luke 8:50 “But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.”

In an attempt at being funny Mr. Holland said a lot of silly things. Unfortunately, he also used a phrase from Luke’s gospel as a plea for members to stay in the Church even when they doubt the whole story.

The Church has known for years they have a serious retention problem and has tried everything they can to remedy the problem – except one.

The one sure way to remedy their retention issue is by telling the truth, alas, the Church won’t cave on such a thought.

They’ve lied about the one true Jesus of the Bible. While a few of their leaders have admitted they don’t worship the same Jesus they’ve never explained why. All we’ve seen are the awful names they call Christians for their worship of Him. See our list of 50+ Mormon Quotes about Christians and Christianity for more info.

They laden their messages with thick layers of shame for not doing enough for their own salvation, or the growth of the Church.

They won’t tell the truth about their founder who had a long rap sheet of ne’er-do-well activities.

And finally beloved, a tell-tale clue of their problem is seen in a phrase Mr. Holland used about members and their temples. As a reminder here’s what he said —

‘…members young and old trundle off to temples…’

I thought his choice of words was rather odd so I looked up the definition of trundle. I discovered Vocabulary.com defines trundle as ‘moving slowly or heavily’.

Why are Mormons moving slowly or heavily to their temples with Mr. Nelson’s announcements of 100+ new temples?

Shouldn’t this be a cause to rejoice and a reason to run and be the first in line to perform their ‘ordinances’?

Again, we pray that those who heard this man’s lies would question why they need temples to begin with and why Jesus’ spilt blood on the cross isn’t enough.

With Love in Christ —

Michelle
