Conference Quote 2023: Criticizing Prophets is Dangerous

General Conference, ‘A Living Prophet for the Latter Days,’ April 2023 “The doctrine and principles that we must follow to survive spiritually and endure physically are found in the words of a living prophet.

…prophetic teachings do not become more valuable with age. That is why we should not seek to use the words of past prophets to dismiss the teachings of living prophets. … Our seemingly small deviations, quiet neglect, or whispered criticisms in response to prophetic counsel may result in our only walking dangerously near the edge of the covenant path.” — Allen D. Haynie

1 Thessalonians 5:21 “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”

Jeremiah 14:14 “Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.”

Mr. Haynie’s talk was a classic example of why the LDS Church is a cult. His words were another reminder that members mustn’t think for themselves and if they do, they’re guilty of sin.

Everything he said was in direct opposition to what the Lord tells us in His word. There are at least 25 verses telling us to test all things and that doesn’t even include the passages about false teachers and prophets.

There was no mention that for believers to survive they must follow Jesus, rather, their only hope lies in a sinful man. If that wasn’t bad enough, following the doctrine of their imperfect leader is also needed so they can physically survive as well.

We’ll be looking at the rest of this man’s talk in the coming days because we haven’t even touched on the worst of this awful talk.

Please, pray for Jesus to guard the hearts of those who listened to this guy and reject everything Mr. Haynie said!

With Love in Christ —

Michelle
