‘For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.’ 1 Corinthians 1:18
1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.”
_____
The cross is where He suffered for our sins … I can’t fathom the works God must have performed to fulfill His promises while allowing man to act with free will. The verses we see today are just one example of His patience and omnipotence.
This particular fulfillment is of the utmost importance to use when witnessing to Mormons. They don’t believe He suffered for sins on the cross while He died.
They’ve systematically tried to strip God and His Son of all honor in order to take attention away from truth. In their hatred towards Catholics and other denominations they’ve gone so far as to equate any representation of the cross as the Mark of the Beast.

Mormon Doctrine, p 499 “Sign of the Cross…See Apostasy, Christ, Cross. As part of their worship, members and ministers of some modern churches make the sign of the cross. In doing so they draw a cross in the air with the right hand beginning at their foreheads. Their purpose is to show devoutness in worship or to consecrate or bless persons or objects. This religious formality is without scriptural or divine warrant. Revelation 13:16-17.” – Bruce McConkie *

Ask a Mormon why their church has such an aversion to the cross. For every member you ask you’ll get a different answer. Also ask why there are so many biblical references to Jesus being cursed for hanging on a tree. Deut. 21:22-23, Galatians 3:13 and Acts 5:30 are good examples.
*Revelation 13:16-17 “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”
