WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

1.Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein you stand;

2.By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3.For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4.And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

The gospel is gracious and simple. As you can see in the passage above it has nothing to do with prophets, temple ordinances, baptisms for the living or the dead, attendance, or believing in Joseph Smith and his “restored gospel”.

The gospel means good news, not good works.

So, what is the gospel? From 1st Corinthians 15 :1-4 we find the apostle Paul actually “declares” the gospel.

Also notice it had already been preached and received.

Furthermore, it is where we should stand and are saved.

According to the scriptures, Christ died for our sins, was buried and resurrected on the third day. And if we don’t believe those three things, then we believe in vain. And to believe in vain means it’s all about you, and not what Christ did for you.

Galatians 1:8

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

Furthermore, Paul tells us to beware of false gospels. So, if anyone or an angel propagating any anything different, we are to reject it.

Matthew 24:14

“And this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

Now here we see the gospel in action, which hasn’t stopped since the disciples died (no apostasy). God promised the gospel would be proclaimed to the end. No restoration needed.

It might be hard to believe but the Bible is still the most read book in the world, and it stands on its own it doesn’t need any additional help.

Please remember the true gospel…the only one that can save.

  1. Jesus died for our sins
  2. He was buried
  3. He rose again the third day

And that my friends is the gospel in a nutshell anything different is a false gospel.

My prayer for you is to keep in memory those three things.

Trust the gospel.
