Fullness of the Gospel?
D&C 20:9; “Which contains a record of a fallen people, and the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles and to the Jews also.”
1 Corinthians 15:1-4; “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
While we’ve explored this subject matter before in our article “Fullness of the Gospel?” I also have to wonder why…
Why does the Church need additional scripture or even teachings if the Book of Mormon contains the fullness of the gospel?
Why do they need prophets to reveal new information from God if the Book of Mormon contains all there is?
While in Corinth the Apostle Paul reminded the new Christian community of the gospel of Christ and not to allow the interpolation of past religious rituals to bleed into what they’d already been taught. They had everything they needed for religious instruction. The rituals for gaining salvation had come to an end with Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection!! PTL!
