Angel of Light

ANGEL OF LIGHT

Aggelos; a messenger.

Phos; face, luminous, fire, light

We’re taking a look at what Joseph Smith said when the angel Moroni came to visit him with the message of the Book of Mormon.  This was one of the most startling finds for me personally when I came out of the church.  I had already come to the conclusion the Church was wrong, but this rocked my world.  It honestly took me a few days to recover spiritually speaking from the truth that I found.

     There are numerous places in the Mormon’s 3-in-1 (scriptures) that explain who the angel Moroni is and the integral role he played for Smith.

     Let’s begin by taking a look at what the Book of Mormon says about “an angel of light”.  2 Nephi 9:9-10 says;

“And our spirits must have become like unto him, and we become devils, angels to a devil, to be shut out from the presence of our God, and to remain with the father of lies, in misery, like unto himself: yea, to that being who beguiled our first parents, who transformeth himself nigh unto an angel of light, and stirreth up the children of men unto secret combinations of murder and all manner of secret works of darkness.  O how great the goodness of our God, who prepareth a way for our escape from the grasp of this awful monster…”

     Next we see that Moroni is an angel of light in the introductory page of the D&C, third paragraph;

This took place in the early spring of 1820.  In September, 1823, and at later times, Joseph Smith received visitations from Moroni, an angel of light, who revealed the resting place of the ancient record from which The Book of Mormon was afterward translated”.

     And finally we see how Moroni visited Smith in Joseph Smith’s Testimony 2:30, 47;

While I was thus in the act of calling upon God, I discovered a light appearing in my room, which continued to increase until the room was lighter than at noonday, when immediately a personage appeared at my bedside, standing in the air, for his feet did not touch the floor”.

     In verse 47 he goes on to say;

“After this third visit, he again ascended into heaven as before, and I was again left to ponder on the strangeness of what I had just experienced; when almost immediately after the heavenly messenger had ascended from me for the third time, the cock crowed and I found that day was approaching, so that our interviews must have occupied the whole of that night”.

     Now before we go any further, we need to examine this with what the Word of God says about heavenly messengers and angels of light.  If we are to believe any prophet or messenger of God then our standard comes from what God says.

2 Cor. 11:14-5 says; “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”

     If Smith’s story about Moroni in the bedroom sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

Matthew 26:33-5, 74-5; “Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cok crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.  Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man.  And immediately the cock crew.  And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.  And he went out, and wept bitterly”.

    I have thought many times about the story of Jesus and Peter.  Take a moment and think about the look on Jesus’ face when he looked at Peter the last time after Peter denied him three times.  I cannot imagine the shame.

     Denying Jesus is exactly what Smith did when he wrote this story about Moroni, an angel of light.  Smith has denied the Lord Jesus Christ by listening to Moroni.  We can all sit and speculate about what Smith saw that night, but I have no doubt he was visited by something other than one of God’s angels.  It is no coincidence the stories are so similar.  Smith is trying to trick the Mormon people into thinking that this was a heavenly event, but Satan cannot come up with anything new so here’s a bold story of how he’s deceived the people.

     It is one of Satan’s most blatant exposé’s of the whole Mormon legend.  The sad thing is that the Mormon won’t see it because he believes he’s untouchable in his garments.  Don’t be fooled my friend, Satan is indeed an angel of light, just likeMoroni.

     Think about it, he even took the place of the cross on top of the temples.  He’s there trumpeting to the whole world that he’s in charge.  He’s not there to proclaim the return of Jesus, guaranteed.

     I know as a Mormon this article sounds harsh and I’m out ‘to bash you’ or make fun of what you believe is sacred.  But I’m here to tell you nothing could be further from the truth.  I am scared you won’t be told the truth my friend.  Each time I think of this event in Smith’s life I can’t help but think of my own family who has been lied to for the past six generations.  It kills me they have been deceived to the point they won’t even listen.  At least think about the story of Jesus and Peter and then Smith andMoroni.  I’m not the one that wrote the account of Moroni’s visit, Joseph did.

     Know that we pray daily for the Mormon people and if you are a member of the LDS Church we hope to hear from you!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
