Thought of the Day about Mormonism and Eating Raw Meat
The two verses above are pretty clear wouldn’t you say?
So I would ask the Mormons what they’d have to say about the following two verses found in the Book of Mormon. They come from a story of the Nephites in their trek to America.
1 Nephi 17:2; “And so great were the blessings of the Lord upon us, that while we did live upon raw meat in the wilderness…”
1 Nephi 17:12; “For the Lord had not hitherto suffered that we should make much fire, as we journeyed in the wilderness; for he said: I will make thy food become sweet, that ye cook it not.”
Isn’t it interesting how God would tell this set of Israelites to eat raw meat when He so clearly told the other Israelites not to participate in such behavior?
I hope it’s understood there is blood in raw meat and the problem with this is that God specifically forbade the Israelites not to eat or drink the blood of an animal. The reason why is because there is life in the blood and it’s to be treated with the utmost respect. You’ll note how important the message is in the New Testament of how Christ’s blood which contained life was shed for us willingly so that we might have life.
Now if that wasn’t interesting enough, here’s another twist to the story…some 170 years later the Nephites are fighting with the Lamanites and they’re commenting on how horrible the Lamanites are. One of the Lamanites’ detestable character traits is that of eating raw meat. My, how the passing of years can change the outlook of things…
Enos 1:20; “…And many of them did eat nothing save it was raw meat; and they were continually seeking to destroy us.”
