False Prophecies of Mormonism; Wm Smith to Live until Jesus’ Return

History of the Church 2:191; “William Smith’s Blessing:—We pray that he may be purified in heart; that he may have communion with God; that he may be equal with his brethren in holding the keys of this ministry; that he may be kept and be instrumental in leading Israel forth, that he may be delivered from the hands of those who seek to destroy him; that he may be enabled to bear testimony to the nations that Jesus lives…He shall be preserved and remain on the earth, until Christ shall come to take vengeance on the wicked.”

Deuteronomy 18:22; “When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.”

All it takes is just one false prophecy to discredit someone who says they’re speaking for God. One.  The text doesn’t say “hey, if they get a couple right then go ahead and overlook the wrong prophecy…”  No!  One wrong prophecy and that’s all it takes! 

Smith’s prophecy about William Smith took place on Sunday, February 15, 1835.  Wm. Smith died November 13, 1893.  The important thing here is that he obviously died and Joseph Smith’s prophecy was proven false!
