Letter from the First Presidency of the Mormon Church, July 17, 1947, as cited in Mormonism and the Negro, by John J. Stewart, 1960, pages 46-47; “From the days of the Prophet Joseph even until now, it has been the doctrine of the Church, never questioned by any of the Church leaders, that the Negroes are not entitled to the full blessings of the Gospel.”

James 2:3-4, 9; “And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.”

I’ve often wondered what was inside the hearts of these men causing them to carry such hate and animosity towards others. 

And even more curious is why scriptures like we see in James didn’t prompt an immediate process of repentance on their part. Their silence on these issues is deafening.
