Ishmael is a sign of the works we try to accomplish through our fleshy ways. Isaac was a sign of grace and the miraculous works God can perform despite us. Let us not be confused as to who was who.

Mormons are led to believe through their holy scripture of Doctrine and Covenants the promises sprang from Hagar and her seed. In section 132:34 it says; “God commanded Abraham, and Sarah gave Hagar to Abraham to wife. And why did she do it? Because this was the law; and from Hagar sprang many people. This, therefore, was fulfilling, among other things, the promises”.
