Sowing Another Gospel

General Conference, April 2015, “The Parable of the Sower”; “The parable of the sower warns us of circumstances and attitudes that can keep anyone who has received the seed of the gospel message from bringing forth a goodly harvest…We have the seed of the gospel word. It is up to each of us to set the priorities and to do the things that make our soil good and our harvest plentiful. We must seek to be firmly rooted and converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ (see Colossians 2:6–7). We ensure this conversion by prayer, by scripture reading, by serving, and by regularly partaking of the sacrament to always have His Spirit to be with us. We must also seek that mighty change of heart (see Alma 5:12–14) that replaces evil desires and selfish concerns with the love of God and the desire to serve Him and His children.” – Elder Dallin H. Colossians 2:6-7; “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”

Mr. Oaks’ message is full of contradictions. If they’ve already received the gospel like he claims they have, then why did he also say they must seek to have a change of heart to replace evil desires?

The other major contradiction – they haven’t received the gospel of Jesus Christ, and in fact have rejected the Bible in their brazen statement found in Article of Faith 1:8;

“We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.”

Communion isn’t a lucky charm and isn’t partaken of so God’s Holy Spirit will always be there. Jesus said He’d send us the Comforter who will always be in us and never depart – John 14.
