Tip of the Day, December 29

December 29 – Revelation 5:6a, 9-10a; “And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain…And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

This is the second time that John refers to Jesus as the Lamb.  In the gospel of John, he told us of how John the Baptist points to Jesus as the Lamb of God.  In Revelation he tells us that He is the slain Lamb of God, worthy of our praise.  What a beautiful picture we have here of our awesome God!

The word slain literally means cut in the throat for a sacrifice.  His sacrifice is our proof that He paid the price in full for our redemption unto God.

In Mormon theology, Jesus is a created being.  If this is all he is, wouldn’t it leave room for error, therefore nullifying the Lamb of God without blemish?  How could it be that something created could be perfect?  Saying Jesus was created takes away His omnipotence and lessens the wonder of who God is to us.  They can call him the Lamb of God all they want, but it’s not the Lamb of God of the Bible that was created.
