Contradictions in Mormon Canon: Did Joseph Smith Write, or Translate the Book of Mormon?

Doctrine and Covenants 24:1; “Behold, thou wast called and chosen to write the Book of Mormon, and to my ministry; and I have lifted thee up out of thine afflictions, and have counseled thee, that thou hast been delivered from all thine enemies, and thou hast been delivered from the powers of Satan and from darkness!” [emp. mine]

Doctrine and Covenants 20:8; “And gave him power from on high, by the means which were before prepared, to translate the Book of Mormon”. [emp. mine]

1 John 1:7-8; Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

Oops.

Perhaps it was a Freudian slip, but you’d think by now the Church would’ve ‘fixed’ this one! We think of this as a gift from the Lord. It serves as yet another reason why Mormonism is not what it purports itself to be.
