Nephi Plagiarizes John the Baptist

 I Nephi 10:8; “Yea, even he should go forth and cry in the wilderness: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, and make his paths straight; for there standeth one among you whom ye know not; and he is mightier than I, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose. And much spake my father concerning this thing.” – c. BC 600

 

 

 

John 1:27; “He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.” – c. 30 AD

How did Nephi’s father, Lehi, know about John the Baptist 600 years before he was born?

Furthermore, how did either of them know what baptism was at this time, or where John would baptize Jesus?

This scenario sounds rather fishy!
