Tip of the Day, October 28

October 28 –Kingdom of God! Galatians 1:6-7; “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.”

While the Mormon Church sounds good in their explanation of the gospel in today’s lesson, in reality their understanding of the gospel is far different than what they purport it to be.  They believe you have to ‘obey the gospel ordinances’ in order to gain exaltation.

And by the way, the word gospel doesn’t mean good tidings.  It means good news!

Good news!  God has provided THE way for you to be saved!

Good news!  God loves you & gave His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON to die in your stead!

Good news!  You don’t have to work yourself to death to maybe earn a chance to go to heaven!

One more thing, McConkie stated that Christ established His early kingdom here. If this is true then what’s up with Joseph Smith saying his job was to bring about the kingdom of God on earth? Mormon Doctrine, p. 45 also said; “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as it is now constituted is the kingdom of God on earth. Nothing more needs to be done to establish the kingdom. (D. & C. 35:27; 38:9, 15; 50:35; 62:9; 65; 136:41.) The kingdom is here, and it is the same kingdom which Daniel said would be set up in the last days. (Dan. 2:44-45.) This same kingdom has been set up in the past ages whenever the gospel has been on earth, for the plan of salvation is the gospel of the kingdom. The Church and kingdom are one and the same.

“Literally, gospel means good tidings from God or God-story. Thus it is the glad tidings or good news concerning Christ, his atonement, the establishment of his earthly kingdom, and a possible future inheritance in his celestial presence. “And this is the gospel,” the Prophet recorded by way of revelation, “the glad tidings, which the voice out of the heavens bore record unto us — That he came into the world, even Jesus, to be crucified for the world, and to bear the sins of the world, and to sanctify the world, and to cleanse it from all unrighteousness; That through him all might be saved whom the Father had put into his power and made by him.” (D. & C. 76:40-42.)”  Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 298.
