LDS: Members Should Bring Each Other to Christ

ChurchNews.com “The Church is more than its buildings and ecclesiastical structure; the Church is the members, … with Christ at the head and the Prophet as His mouthpiece.”
Belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ is a privilege, “where members can unite their faith, hearts, strengths, minds and hands for Him to perform His mighty miracles.
Followers of Christ are striving to become of “one heart and one mind,” and to become like Him.
Even the smallest efforts make a significant difference in God’s kingdom. “Our purpose in His kingdom should be to bring each other to Christ.“ And as Christ’s Church, the members are the means through which the Savior will perform some of His mightiest works before He comes again.” — Reyna I. Amos 9:11-12; “In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: 12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this.”

Millennial Star, Vol. 55, No. 36, Sept. 4, 1893, p. 585 “On May 23, 1843, I listened to a discourse preached in the Nauvoo temple, which was then only partially finished. Brother Joseph was talking on the pre-existence of our spirits, and
our relations to God in the spirit world, and our standing in the family circle of our Father. Now I am telling the truth, and I remember that while thus talking he suddenly turned around to the Apostles sitting on the stand and said in effect: ‘Brethren, if I were to tell you all I know of the kingdom of God, I do know that you would rise up and kill me.’ Brother Brigham arose and said, ‘Don’t tell me anything that I can’t bear, for I don’t want to apostatize.’ Brother Joseph, addressing the Apostles, then said: ‘The weight of this kingdom has been as a millstone around my neck, but I am going to roll it off on your shoulders, and then the kingdom of God will go on.’ There were eleven of the Apostles present at this time. Among them I saw Parley Pratt, Orson Pratt, Willard Richards, Geo. A. Smith, Brigham Young and John Taylor. I don’t remember the others.” – Anthon H. Lund, publisher

Kingdom of Daniel
History of the Church 6:364-365; “The ancient prophets declared that in the last days the God of heaven should set up a kingdom which should never be destroyed, nor left to other people; and the very time that was calculated on, this people were struggling to bring it out…365 I calculate to be one of the instruments of setting up the kingdom of Daniel by the word of the Lord, and I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world…” – Joseph Smith, May 12, 1844

No Polygamy, No Kingdom of God
Journal of Discourses 24:229-230; “He [Joseph Smith] has told us about our associations hereafter. He has told us about our wives and our children being sealed to us, that we might have a claim on them in eternity. He has revealed unto us the law of celestial marriage, associated with which is the principle of plural marriage. This you will see is strictly in accordance with what I have told you Joseph Smith told the Twelve—that if this law was not practiced, if they would not enter into this covenant, then the kingdom of God could not go one step further.” – John Taylor, “Selections from his Discourses delivered in the Various Settlements”
Mark 1:14-15; “Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

Where is God’s Power?
Aaronic Priesthood, pg. 116 by Oscar McConkie it says; “There must be power; that is, there must be priesthood. Where God’s power is manifest, there is the church and kingdom of God on earth. Where his power is not found, there the church and kingdom is not. Therefore, where the priesthood is, there is the church and kingdom of God.”

Kingdom of God was the Garden of Eden in America
Journal of Discourses 8:196; “In the beginning, after this earth was prepared for man, the Lord commenced his work upon what is now called the American continent, where the Garden of Eden was made. In the days of Noah, in the days of the floating of the ark, he took the people to another part of the earth: the earth was divided, and there he set up his kingdom.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 7, 1860

November 26 – Romans 14:17-20; “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.”

Again, we need to make sure all things are looked at in context, therefore, we look at and read all historical and geographical materials we can, as well as using dictionaries and concordances. This way we have assurance we’ve exhausted all venues. A great example is Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance; here’s what it says about the word kingdom: in the Greek, the word is basileia.
The transliteration for this is: properly royalty, that is, (abstractly) rule, or (concretely) a realm (literally or figuratively):—kingdom, + reign.”
Nowhere does it say in the actual text (or the concordance) anything about an organization being the kingdom of God. In fact, when we research these verses, along with reputable commentaries, they all say the kingdom is where the Christian is living a life acceptable to God, living righteously and not causing others to stumble.
According to the Holman Bible Dictionary it means it is the rule or sovereignty of God.
It is not a “geographical area, nor is it a political entity such as the nation of Israel… The establishment of the kingdom is a work of God. God will reign, and people can contribute nothing to that reigning of God.” – Holman Bible Dictionary.
Since the kingdom of God is not the nation of Israel, that would also include the Mormon Church. If it’s not a nationality, not an organization and not a political entity, where does that leave the people of Mormonism? I always think of my mother when I see things like this.
They claim it is the duty of the Church to prepare man to live with God. However, Jesus says otherwise. Jesus told everyone they are welcome to enter the kingdom and to have the heart of a child. (Mark 10:14)
_____
“The church is a kingdom; it is God’s kingdom. . .and as such is designed to prepare men for an inheritance… which is the celestial kingdom. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Eternal King; his representative on earth is the President of the church…Where there is no kingdom of God there is no salvation.” Without the church, man cannot be saved. “Whenever men can find out the will of God and find an administrator legally authorized from God, there is the kingdom of God; but where these are not, the kingdom of God is not. All the ordinances, systems, and administrations on earth are of no use to the children of men, unless they are ordained and authorized of God; for nothing will save a man but a legal administrator; for none others will be acknowledged either by God or angels.” Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pp. 271-72, 274.” Bruce R.
