The Latter-day Saints Millennial Star Vol. 49, No. 19, May 9, 1887, p. 301 “If we are persecuted for our religion, it is no more than we have been taught to expect. … The most encouraging words that could be uttered by Our Almighty Father to His children have been given to us. We have proved them to be true up to the present, and we know every word will be fulfilled that has been spoken concerning the future.

They who fight against Zion shall be destroyed; and the pit which has been digged shall be filled by those who digged it, unto their utter destruction.” — John Taylor (more…)

Millennial Star 8:124-128 ~ “One of the witnesses to the Book of Mormon, yielded to the spirit and temptation of the devil a number of years ago – turned against Joseph Smith and became his bitter enemy. He was filled with the rage and madness of a demon. One day he would be one thing, and another day another thing. He soon became partially deranged or shattered, as many believed, flying from one thing to another…In one of his fits of monomania, he went and joined the ‘Shakers’ or followers of Anna Lee…but since Strang has made his entry…Martin leaves the ‘Shakers,’ whom he knows to be right…and joins Strang…We understand that he is appointed a mission to this country…if the Saints wish to know what the Lord hath said to him they may turn to…the Book of Doctrine and Covenants, and the person there called a “wicked man” is no other than Martin Harris….” ~ John Taylor, November 15, 1846 (more…)

Millennial Star, Vol. 55, No. 36, Sept. 4, 1893, p. 585 “On May 23, 1843, I listened to a discourse preached in the salt lake mormon temple 2Nauvoo temple, which was then only partially finished.  Brother Joseph was talking on the pre-existence of our spirits, andAnthon_H._Lund our relations to God in the spirit world, and our standing in the family circle of our Father.  Now I am telling the truth, and I remember that while thus talking he suddenly turned around to the Apostles sitting on the stand and said in effect: ‘Brethren, if I were to tell you all I know of the kingdom of God, I do know that you would rise up and kill me.’  Brother Brigham arose and said, ‘Don’t tell me anything that I can’t bear, for I don’t want to apostatize.’   Brother Joseph, addressing the Apostles, then said: ‘The weight of this kingdom has been as a millstone around my neck, but I am going to roll it off on your shoulders, and then the kingdom of God will go on.’  There were eleven of the Apostles present at this time.  Among them I saw Parley Pratt, Orson Pratt, Willard Richards, Geo. A. Smith, Brigham Young and John Taylor.  I don’t remember the others.” – Anthon H. Lund, publisher

Mormon Decisions 10Millennial Star, Vol. 57, No. 46, November 14, 1985, pg 739; “Now I would ask this congregation; I would ask all the Jews, the Catholics, the Protestants, I would ask the clergy of all nations: Can this mighty dispensation of which every prophet has spoken be fulfilled and can these great events transpire in the  earth, without revelation from God? No, most assuredly not. God never gave … a greater dispensation than the one in which Joseph Smith was called and ordained of God to organize the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It required revelation. It will require it to the winding-up scene. Zion cannot be built up … nor can the nations of the earth be warned of the great judgments that are at the door without it.” – Wilford Woodruff

Parley P. Pratt’s Lie

Mormon Decisions 10Millennial Star, August 1842, No. 4, Vol 3, pg. 74; “But, for the information of those who may be assailed by those foolish tales about the two wives, we would say that no such principle ever existed among the Latter-day Saints, and never will; this is well known to all who are acquainted with our books and actions, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants; and also all our periodicals are very strict and explicit on that subject, indeed far more so than the bible.” – Published by Parley Pratt and T. Wood
