January 23 – Why Mormons Pass Over God’s Passover Miracle. Exodus 12:21-27 “Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. 22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. 23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. 24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever. 25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service. 26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? 27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD’s passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.”

1 Corinthians 5;7 “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.”

January 9 – Mormonism’s Reprobate Adamic Language. Titus 1:15-16 “Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.”

January 15 — Ashtoreth. Today ask the Mormon in your life for their opinion about their Heavenly Mother. Then ask if they’ve ever heard of Ashtoreth. Be sure you explain with demonstrative evidence (Bible and a dictionary) who this false goddess was, and why Israel was always in trouble for worshiping her. Without being judgmental towards them, ask if they see the correlation between their Heavenly Mother and Ashtoreth. To get a clear idea of who the Mormons believe she is, see our article ‘Heavenly Mother’. (more…)

January 6 — Sewing Seeds of Doubt. 1 Chronicles 16:23-26; “Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation. 24 Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations. 25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.” (more…)

December 22 –The Good Shepherd. 1 Peter 5:2-4; “Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.  And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.” (more…)

Being in the throes of the Christmas season we can sometimes forget to slow down, and remember the reason why we’re so busy.

I was reminded of how chaotic things used to be and had to praise the Lord for what He’s done.

My life has done a 180° turnaround from the days of Mormonism. Gone are the years of wondering if I’ve been good enough for God to be with me.

Today I can pause knowing with 100% certainty, God’s Holy Spirit is there to comfort, and speak to me 24/7 because He lives inside of me. As a Mormon this wasn’t a reality, and it never entered my thoughts because I was always too busy with worries that beset me.

This dichotomy is overwhelming. It’s also what the Lord keeps reminding me of this week, so today and tomorrow we’re looking at Joseph Smith’s interpretation of the Holy Spirit. You’ll notice how they refer to God’s gift as ‘it’, or simply as the ‘Holy Ghost’, causing a great disconnect for the Mormon.

Mormon Doctrine, 681 “The Holy Ghost is a personage of Spirit, he constitutes the third person in the Trinity, the godhead. The gift or presentation of the Holy Ghost is the authoritative act of conferring him upon man.

The Holy Ghost in person may visit men, and will visit those who are worthy, and bear witness to their spirit of God and Christ, but may not tarry with them. * (more…)

October 31 –– The True Church of Jesus Christ Ephesians 4:11-14; “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.” (more…)

In Mormon Doctrine, pp. 174 & 699, Bruce McConkie defined a cult as “sects”.

Mormon Doctrine, p. 211; “…CREATION… CELESTIAL EARTH. — Following the millennium plus “a little season” (D. & C. 29:22-25), the earth will die, be resurrected and become like a “sea of glass” (D. & C. 130:7), attain unto “its sanctified, immortal, and eternal state.” (D. & C. 77:1-2.) Then the poor and the meek — that is, the god-fearing and the righteous — shall inherit the earth; it will become an abiding place for the Father and the Son and celestial beings will possess it forever and ever. (D. & C. 88:14-26, 111.)” – Bruce R. McConkie
