Acts 17:26 “ And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation”.
Doctrine and Covenants Official Declaration—2; “…As we have witnessed the expansion of the work of the Lord over the earth, we have been grateful that people of many nations have responded to the message of the restored gospel, and have joined the Church in ever-increasing numbers. This, in turn, has inspired us with a desire to extend to every worthy member of the Church all of the privileges and blessings which the gospel affords.” (more…)

Interview by Wesley P. Walters and Chris Vlachos, August 16, 1978, Church Office Building; “The Lord has never indicated
that black skin came because of being less faithful. Now, the [American] Indian; we know why he has changed, don’t we? The Book of Mormon tells us that: and he has a dark skin, but he has promise there that through faithfulness, that they all again become a white and delightsome people.” – Apostle LeGrand Richards
Blacks Can’t Turn White

Today we’re mixing things up again! I’m dividing this dilemma in two parts so let’s go!
Where Is Wisdom?, p 389-390; “…the writer calls attention to the well-known distinct primary divisions of the human race now on the earth, namely, the Caucasian, the Mongolian, and the Negroid; and that these branches of mankind differ not only in bodily appearance but especially in mental qualities. The black skin of the Negro is not simply an excessive sunburn; no Caucasian becomes black, however long he may reside in tropical climates; and no Negro born and bred in temperate climates ever becomes white.
Lamanites and Blacks not Adopted of God

Journal of Discourses 11:272; “I have endeavored to give you a few items relating to the celestial kingdom of God and to the other kingdoms which the Lord has prepared for his children. The Lamanites or Indians are just as much the children of our Father and God as we are. So also are the Africans. But we are also the children of adoption through obedience to the Gospel of his Son. Why are so many of the inhabitants of the earth cursed with a sin of blackness? It comes in consequence of their fathers rejecting the power of the Holy Priesthood, and the law of God. They will go down to death. And when all the rest of the children have received their blessings in the Holy Priesthood, then that curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will then come up and possess the priesthood, and receive all the blessings which we now are entitled to.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, August 19, 1866
Thought of the Day about Mormonism and 2 Nephi 30:6

This thought of the day came about after speaking with an uncle of mine earlier this week and our conversation regarding my great-grandmother’s ethnicity.
After we ended our call I began wondering once again why the Church would’ve allowed this side of my family into their exclusive priesthood back in the late 1800’s when they emigrated here. Half my family qualifies for the very Mormon coveted status of ‘white and delightsome’ and the other half…well, not so much. They’re black Welsh. Oops.
This topic has been the thorn in my side for as long as I can remember. I prayed and repented countless times as a child for my so-called rejection of Jesus in the pre-existence. My coloring was a sure sign of early apostasy on my part and to say that shame ran deep would be an understatement.

By Lee B. Baker, Former Mormon Bishop
For several years now, every Tuesday evening I have had the great privilege of addressing the Christian and Mormon listeners of Worship FM 101.7 in Monrovia, the capital City of Liberia, West Africa.
I have come to know several of the station managers and a number of the more frequent callers to the weekly program. Through their comments, questions and photographs, I have been genuinely moved to see the application of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Answers to Gospel Questions 3:123; “After the people again forgot the Lord and dissensions arose, some of them took upon themselves the name Lamanites and the dark skin returned. When the Lamanites fully repent and sincerely receive the gospel, the Lord has promised to remove the dark skin.”
1 John 2:9; “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.”

Mormon Dilemma 925 Being Black is a Handicap

Doctrinal Commentary on the Pearl of Great Price, p 406-407; “The position of the Church regarding the Negro may be understood when another doctrine of the Church is kept in mind; namely, that the conduct of spirits in the pre-mortal existence has some determining effect upon the conditions and circumstances under which these spirits take on mortality, and that while the details of the principle have not been made known, the principle itself indicates that the coming to this earth and taking on mortality is a privilege that is given to those who maintain their first estate; and that the worth of the principle is so great that spirits are willing to come to earth and take on bodies no matter what the handicap may be as to the kind of bodies they are to secure; and that among the handicaps, failure of the right to enjoy in mortality the blessings of the priesthood, is a handicap which spirits are willing to assume in order that they might come to earth. Under this principle there is no injustice whatsoever involved in this deprivation as to the holding of the Priesthood by Negroes.” – Hyrum Andrus, 1998
