Interview by Wesley P. Walters and Chris Vlachos, August 16, 1978, Church Office Building; “The Lord has never indicated
that black skin came because of being less faithful. Now, the [American] Indian; we know why he has changed, don’t we? The Book of Mormon tells us that: and he has a dark skin, but he has promise there that through faithfulness, that they all again become a white and delightsome people.” – Apostle LeGrand Richards
2 Corinthians 11:13-15; “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
Just as we saw in yesterday’s post, the lies in Mormonism had no choice but to continue on because they refused to denounce the racist doctrine in their canon.
You’ll notice the date of this interview took place two months after the Church’s ‘historic’ announcement that blacks could now hold the Mormon priesthood. That’s not to say the minds of their leaders changed any, and evidence is found in our example today. They seemed to have the moral compass of a doorknob.
Pastor Stephen J. Cole, who is a pastor in Flagstaff, AZ and writes articles for Bible.org, pointed out an interesting Bible fact. He shared the results of a study by a seminary teacher who told his students they were going to study everything in the NT to find out what one subject was discussed most often. The students found that warnings against false doctrine was discussed more than any other subject.
Learning about the student’s findings reveals the Lord’s constant care and concern for His children. While all subjects in His word are of great import, knowing this is a comfort, and serves as another reminder to guard that which He has given to us through Jesus.
Not every Christian has to be an apologist or evangelist, but every Christian should know how to discern truth from a lie.
