Mormon Dilemma 925 Being Black is a Handicap

Doctrinal Commentary on the Pearl of Great Price, p 406-407; “The position of the Church regarding the Negro may be understood when another doctrine of the Church is kept in mind; namely, that the conduct of spirits in the pre-mortal existence has some determining effect upon the conditions and circumstances under which these spirits take on mortality, and that while the details of the principle have not been made known, the principle itself indicates that the coming to this earth and taking on mortality is a privilege that is given to those who maintain their first estate; and that the worth of the principle is so great that spirits are willing to come to earth and take on bodies no matter what the handicap may be as to the kind of bodies they are to secure; and that among the handicaps, failure of the right to enjoy in mortality the blessings of the priesthood, is a handicap which spirits are willing to assume in order that they might come to earth. Under this principle there is no injustice whatsoever involved in this deprivation as to the holding of the Priesthood by Negroes.” – Hyrum Andrus, 1998
1 Samuel 16:7; “But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”
Foregoing the whole topic on the pre-existence, today we’re looking at the bottom line of what this message portrays.
In my personal life the only time my race or coloring has been a ‘handicap’ was when I lived in Utah as an active member of the LDS Church. In all the other places I’ve lived throughout the world and the US, my race has never been an issue…with anyone.
All of their speculating and time spent on so many heretical ideologies leads one to believe they know little to nothing about God.
If God was so hung up on the race issue why does the Bible have an exorbitant amount of scriptures refuting their theory? The word of God goes out of its way to dismantle this racist dogma and condemns hatred of others.
The other MAJOR issue going on with this is timing. The Church publicly changed their rules in 1978 but take notice of the publishing date of their book – it was 1998. Twenty years later they’re still spinning the same stuff. Does this sound like a church who has changed their ways?
