The Messiah would be God … Only God can decide if He’s going to remove protection from His children and break a covenant He’s made with them. We can refuse Him, but that’s not breaking a covenant. He’s the One that saves, not us. According to Heber Kimball and other leaders of Mormonism, this isn’t the case. They teach that if you don’t accept Joseph Smith and Brigham Young as gods, then salvation isn’t yours.
