The image above comes from the Mamertine Prison where Paul wrote his epistle to Timothy just before his execution. The prison was more of a holding cell than an actual prison, located next to the Roman Forum where trials and executions were held. Prisoners were lowered down through a hole in the floor to what used to be a water cistern. In later years the Forum was where Mussolini’s headquarters were located.
When the rubber meets the road, will you stand firm, or will you be moved? There’s always trouble surrounding us, and it comes from all directions like fiery darts waiting to impale plans you’ve made, the peace you have, and ideals you’ve set. When a curve ball comes your way, will you stand firm for Him?
Being called names, losing jobs, receiving death threats, and sometimes even being killed…is it worth it to you to know Him? Would you do it all again even if you knew the trouble you’d face? It may sound extreme, but this is reality for a lot of people when leaving Mormonism.

Deseret News, April 16, 1856; “Any of you who understand the principles of eternity – if you have sinned a sin requiring the shedding of blood, except the sin unto death – would not be satisfied or rest until your blood should be spilled, that you might gain the salvation you desire. This is the way to love mankind.” – Brigham Young
