‘The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: But the word of our God shall stand for ever.’ Isaiah 40:8
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
The difference between LDS canon, and the Bible is of course, the source from whence it came. The LDS reference above clearly serves as a warning it’s not from God! There are numerous verses in the Bible where God tells us to only trust in His words. One example is found in 1 Cor. 2:13 –
“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
We also see our Lord’s provision for us in two other warnings that show up repeatedly. 1.Don’t trust in man – Psalm 118:8. 2.Don’t trust feelings, or what comes from the heart – Matthew 15:19, Jeremiah 17:9.
Our dear Lord wants nothing more than to see His creation in heaven with Him. With all the guidance from His word, it’s clear He wants us to take heed!
Why would you want to rely on a god who isn’t always the same? There’s no rest for our souls if we must always watch out for what might come next. What if the guy giving a speech one day is found to be a heretic tomorrow?
The Church’s evolving doctrines have clearly shown they’re unreliable even though they’ve named schools and institutions in their honor.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
