‘The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: But the word of our God shall stand for ever.’ Isaiah 40:8
Doctrines of Salvation 1:186 “WHAT IS SCRIPTURE? When one of the brethren stands before a congregation of the people today, and the inspiration of the Lord is upon him, he speaks that which the Lord would have him speak. It is just as much scripture as anything you will find written in any of these records, and yet we call these the standard works of the Church. We depend, of course, upon the guidance of the brethren who are entitled to inspiration.” — Joseph Fielding Smith, 1954-1956
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
The difference between LDS canon, and the Bible is of course, the source from whence it came. The LDS reference above clearly serves as a warning it’s not from God! There are numerous verses in the Bible where God tells us to only trust in His words. One example is found in 1 Cor. 2:13 –
“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
We also see our Lord’s provision for us in two other warnings that show up repeatedly. 1.Don’t trust in man – Psalm 118:8. 2.Don’t trust feelings, or what comes from the heart – Matthew 15:19, Jeremiah 17:9.
Our dear Lord wants nothing more than to see His creation in heaven with Him. With all the guidance from His word, it’s clear He wants us to take heed!
Why would you want to rely on a god who isn’t always the same? There’s no rest for our souls if we must always watch out for what might come next. What if the guy giving a speech one day is found to be a heretic tomorrow?
The Church’s evolving doctrines have clearly shown they’re unreliable even though they’ve named schools and institutions in their honor.
With Love in Christ;

“For now do I persuade men or God? For I do not seek to please men. For if I yet pleased men, I would not be the servant of God. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which is preached to you is not after man. For I neither received of man now was I taught it by man, but by revelation of Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 1:10-12)
It is pure blasphemy for any of these General Authorities to put themselves on the same level as God or even Paul in regard to the authenticity of Holy Scripture.
When I left the church, I told the Bishop that I did not feel that any of the General Authorities were men ordained of God. When they speak, they reflect the words of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young or another GA, but never the true words of God as revealed in the Bible
