Plan of Salvation Means We Must Save Ourselves

Journal of Discourses 13:155 “We have a work on hand whose magnitude can hardly be told. We have now to go to and save ourselves according to the plan provided for our salvation, the Savior having done for us all that he can, except to impart unto us grace to aid us in our lives, and to save our families, friends, ancestors, and the nations that have lived before us and those that may come after us, that all may be brought unto God and be saved, except the sons of perdition. This is the labor we have before us.” — Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, November 14, 1869

Luke 19:10 “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Oh dear. This is one of the times you have to wonder what people are thinking by extolling this man.

If Jesus came to seek and save those who are lost, what part is missing? Mr. Young’s words are a slam towards our dear Lord by making it sound as if His work wasn’t sufficient. Lord have mercy!!!

Pray for those who still believe this man was inspired. He gave this speech 150 years ago, but it’s obviously still in effect today, e.g. baptisms for the dead.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
