General Conference Talk Summaries April 2020

2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

The LDS Assembly Hall, and Conference Center was all but empty for the April 2020 General Conference. Due to extenuating circumstances of the COVID-19 Pandemic, extreme measures were taken to help stop the spread of the deadly virus.

Leaders speaking to empty auditoriums usually filled to capacity was reminiscent of when the Spanish Flu Pandemic swept the earth in the early 20th century. At the General Conference in June 1919, LDS president Heber J. Grant delivered his message to a scaled down version of an audience, two months later than the traditional April Conferences.

Today we’re looking at one of the announcements made at the conference we thought was pretty significant in light of what the Lord tells us. Russell Nelson’s comment about Good Friday showed his total disregard for the Lord. While he’s certainly in need of Jesus, he’s also guilty of leading members away from Jesus, not to Him.

Prophet Calls for Good Friday Fast for Relief from COVID-19

President Nelson called on everyone around the world to fast and pray again for relief from COVID-19. (A previous fast for relief from COVID-19 was held March 29, 2020.) This global fast will take place on Good Friday, April 10, 2020.

“Let us unite in pleading for healing throughout the world,” the prophet said. “Good Friday would be the perfect day to have our Heavenly Father and His Son hear us! … Let us prayerfully plead … that the present pandemic may be controlled, caregivers protected, the economy strengthened, and life normalized….”

It seems Nelson is throwing out calls to fast without knowing why people should do so, or how to go about it. If he calling for another fast because the first one didn’t work?

Moreover, the worst part of his announcement was when he said ‘Good Friday would be the perfect day to have our Heavenly Father and His Son hear us’.

????

There was no mention of the significance of Good Friday. His call to fast was a selfish plea for his personal needs.

Where’s the message that Jesus spilt His precious blood?

The LDS Church has always denounced Good Friday, and we see this in Joe Smith’s ungodly prophecy in D&C 19:18 that Jesus paid for sins at Gethsemane.

Shame on Mr. Nelson, and shame on each of the Church leaders who continue to promote these horrific lies.

We’ll be looking at the rest of their talks throughout the week so be sure to check back in!

Please, pray for those who listened to their talks, and for Jesus to protect their hearts from the lies.
