General Conference, Shall We Not Go on in So Great a Cause, April 2020 “Joseph came to realize that the Bible did not contain all the answers to life’s questions; rather, it taught men and women how they could find answers to their questions by communicating directly with God through prayer.” — M. Russell Ballard (more…)

General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints “We should always remember the price Joseph and Hyrum Smith paid, along with so many other faithful men, women, and children, to establish the Church so you and I could enjoy the many blessings and all of these revealed truths we have today. Their faithfulness should never be forgotten!”

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

General Conference, ‘The Great Plan’ April 2020 “…modern revelation teaches us that our progress need not conclude with the end of mortality. Little has been revealed about this important assurance.

We are told that this life is the time to prepare to meet God and that we should not procrastinate our repentance (see Alma 34:32–33).

Still, we are taught that in the spirit world the gospel is preached even to “the wicked and the disobedient who had rejected the truth” (Doctrine and Covenants 138:29) and that those taught there are capable of repentance in advance of the Final Judgment (see verses 31–34, 57–59).” — Dallin Oaks (more…)

‘Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.’ Revelation 1:7

While writing about Russell Nelson’s announcement at General Conference, I received an e-mail from Melissa asking if I had heard about the very same talk.

It was confirmation to both of us that we needed to point out some of the lies he told to warn people about the dangers in his message. There’s no doubt the narrative of Mr. Nelson’s talk was an exhaustive showcase of pious platitudes. However, for the sake of brevity, we’ve limited ourselves to just four of his lies.  Our comments/questions are listed below. (more…)

‘How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?’ Hebrews 9:14

General Conference, ‘The Great Plan’ April 2020 “The restored gospel of Jesus Christ gives us a unique perspective on the subjects of chastity, marriage, and the bearing of children.

It teaches that marriage according to God’s plan is necessary for accomplishing the purpose of God’s plan, to provide the divinely appointed setting for mortal birth, and to prepare family members for eternal life.” — Dallin Oaks (more…)

Newsroom, ‘The Church’s New Symbol Emphasizes the Centrality of the Savior’ April 4, 2020

“President Nelson said this new symbol is a continuation of the effort he felt inspired to initiate in August 2018 to focus on the Church’s divinely revealed name. …

This new emblem emphasizes the name of Jesus Christ and His central role in all the Church does. The name of the Church is contained within a rectangular shape that represents a cornerstone. This idea has biblical roots…” (more…)

General Conference, ‘The Great Plan’ April 2020 “In the Council in Heaven, all the spirit children of God were introduced to the Father’s plan, including its mortal consequences and trials, its heavenly helps, and its glorious destiny. We saw the end from the beginning.

All of the myriads of mortals who have been born on this earth chose the Father’s plan and fought for it in the heavenly contest that followed…In ways that have not been revealed, our actions in the spirit world have influenced our circumstances in mortality.” — Dallin Oaks [emp. added] (more…)

The Coming Forth of the Book of Mormon “Oliver Cowdery, David Whitmer, and Martin Harris…testified that an angel, who came from the presence of the Lord, showed them the ancient record and that they saw the characters engraved in the plates. … The Lord miraculously called another eight witnesses to see the gold plates for themselves and to be special witnesses of the truth and divinity of the Book of Mormon to the world. They testified that they saw and carefully examined the plates and their engraved characters.

Even amid the adversities, persecutions, all kinds of difficulties, and even some of them later faltering in their faith, these eleven chosen Book of Mormon witnesses never denied their testimonies that they had seen the plates…” — Ulisses Soares (more…)

‘And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent’ Matthew 27:51

General Conference, ‘The Finest Homes’, April 2020 “…As we continue in faith, the Lord gradually changes us. We receive His image in our countenance and begin to reflect the love and beauty of His character. As we become more like Him, we will feel at home in His house, and He will feel at home in ours.

We can maintain our home’s close connection to His home by qualifying for and using a temple recommend as frequently as circumstances allow. As we do so, the holiness of the Lord’s house rests in our house as well.” — L. Whitney Clayton (more…)

“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord.” Ephesians 2:19-21

General Conference, ‘A Good Foundation against the Time to Come’ April 2020 “What are the foundational elements of my spiritual and emotional character that will allow me and my family to remain steadfast and immovable, even to withstand the earthshaking and tumultuous seismic events that will surely take place in our lives?”

These events, similar to an earthquake, are often difficult to predict and come in various levels of intensity—wrestling with questions or doubt, facing affliction or adversity, working through personal offenses with Church leaders, members, doctrine, or policy. The best defense against these lies in our spiritual foundation.

What might spiritual cornerstones of our personal and family lives be? They may be the simple, plain, and precious principles of gospel living—family prayer; scripture study, including the Book of Mormon; temple attendance; and gospel learning through Come, Follow Me and home evening. Other helpful resources to strengthen your spiritual foundation may include the Articles of Faith, the family proclamation, and “The Living Christ.”

For me, the principles included in the questions discussed as part of receiving a temple recommend serve as a strong basis for a spiritual foundation—particularly the first four questions. I see them as spiritual cornerstones.” — Gary E. Stevenson (more…)

Psalm 51:2 “Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.”

Hosanna and Hallelujah—The Living Jesus Christ: The Heart of Restoration and Easter  “Let us also briefly recall what Passover signifies. … The final plague threatened the death of the firstborn in the land but not in the house of Israel if—if those households put the blood of an unblemished firstling lamb on the lintels of their doors…The angel of death passed by the houses marked with the symbolic blood of the lamb. That passing by, or pass over, represents Jesus Christ ultimately overcoming death. Indeed, the atoning blood of the Lamb of God gives our Good Shepherd power to gather His people in all places and circumstances into the safety of His fold on both sides of the veil.” — Gerrit Gong [emp. added] (more…)

The Coming Forth of the Book of Mormon “Ezekiel spoke about the stick of Judah (the Bible) and the stick of Ephraim (the Book of Mormon) being brought together as one. “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26

This year the Church’s dogged determination in denouncing Jesus while exalting Joseph was painfully obvious. From the dozen or so talks we’ve read from the April 2020 conference, it’d be impossible not to notice the imbued theme of their pseudo gospel message. We have yet to read anything solely focused on the Lord’s crucifixion, or His subsequent resurrection. For what it’s worth, there were 35 talks.

We’ve pulled a few more talks to compare with God’s word that you can read below.

As always, don’t forget to pray for Mormons to denounce the false god of Joseph Smith!

‘What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?’ Luke 15:4

Today we’re taking a brief look at three of the talks given at General Conference in April 2020.

We pray that Christians will stop and pray for those who listened to the lies at this conference, and when given the opportunity, share the truth!

The main theme at the conference was Joe Smith, of this there is no doubt. Although events from the pandemic loomed overhead, the Church’s focus never strayed from their true agenda.

Paying homage to Smith has always been, and will continue to be the same, until they confess their sin of worshiping false gods, and practicing in the myriad of idolatrous behaviors in the temples.

They’ve rejected the fact that our true Shepherd has always looked over His flock, and faithfully so. Grasping at other isms, and what-ifs has sadly taken over every thought in their quest for the impossible godhood they seek. (more…)

Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one…

This year the LDS Church has chosen to place its focus on many things, one of which is Joseph Smith’s First Vision. Their celebrations of the ‘bicentennial’ of Smith’s trek in the woods outside Palmyra, NY have been filled with deliberate lies leading members down paths away from our sweet Jesus.

While gathering notes for today’s post on their many talks about this, my computer decided to play the hymn ‘Be Thou My Vision’. I took it as a reminder of where our focus should be!

Please note the numbering system we’ve used here is purely ours, and doesn’t reflect which order their talks were given.
