General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints “We should always remember the price Joseph and Hyrum Smith paid, along with so many other faithful men, women, and children, to establish the Church so you and I could enjoy the many blessings and all of these revealed truths we have today. Their faithfulness should never be forgotten!”
From #PresBallard’s inspiring April 2020 #GeneralConference
message. How have you been blessed from all that the Prophet #JosephSmith (and his brother Hyrum) did to help restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth in our day? … #TrueHeroes”
Ezekiel 22:28 “And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken.”
A few days ago, I came across the LDS post on FB noted above. Three things struck me as I read over the short note.
Mr. Ballard’s post was reiterating his talk at General Conference, which just so happened to be Easter weekend.
#1 — Why was the focus on the Smith brothers, and not Jesus?
#2 — Why haven’t they shown their thankfulness for what Jesus did on the cross?
#3 — Joseph, and Hyrum Smith were shot and killed during a gun battle at the Carthage Jail. They were ambushed, yes, but they didn’t die for the sake of the Mormon gospel. They died because people were tired of their shenanigans in polygamy, and other nefarious deeds of money laundering, voting blocks, etc.
When you have the opportunity, be sure to share these historical facts with a Mormon you know, and let them know you’re praying for them! See History of the Church 6:617-619 for written history on Smith’s death.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
