‘But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.’ 1 John 2:11

Church News, One In Christ, April 2023 “At the end of the Last Supper, Jesus Christ offered a sacred Intercessory Prayer, “Holy Father, keep through thine own name [mine apostles] whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are” (John 17:11). He then expanded it to include all believers.

“Where God prevails in all hearts and minds, the people are described as ‘in one, the children of Christ, and heirs to the kingdom of God’ ” (4 Nephi 1:17).

Paul offers a key to how unity can be achieved in a contentious world: “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. … for ye are all one in Christ” (Galatians 3:27–28). It’s an effort that starts individually. “Becoming one in Christ happens one by one — we each begin with ourselves.” Putting on Christ includes “making His ‘first and great commandment,’ our first and greatest commitment” to love God.” — D. Todd Christofferson (more…)

March 18 – Blood of Jesus or Joseph Smith. Colossians 1:5-6 “For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; 6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth.”

“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.” Acts 10:34-35

General Conference, ‘The Doctrine of Belonging,’ October 2022 “How blessed we are to see the day that Zion is being established simultaneously on every continent and in our own neighborhoods. As the Prophet Joseph Smith said, the people of God in every age have looked forward with joyful anticipation to this day, and “we are the favored people that God has made choice of to bring about the Latter-day glory.”

Having been given this privilege, we cannot permit any racism, tribal prejudice, or other divisions to exist in the latter-day Church of Christ. … (more…)

April 5  — LDS Reject Blood of the Covenant. Hebrews 9:12-14; “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (more…)

March 14 — Knowing the Purpose of God’s Word. John 20:30–31 “And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”

2 Timothy 3:15-17 “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (more…)

November 8 – Trusting Lies Delivered by Man. Jude 1:3-4 “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares,  who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” (more…)

Christofferson: ‘Not a Religion of Rationalization’

Today we’re looking at a comment made by LDS apostle Christofferson at the General Conference we retrieved from the Salt Lake Tribune.

As a heads up for the upcoming week’s posts, we’ll be posting an article each day from the conference although it won’t be in the way we’ve done so in past.

The reason for all this is because of what’s going on my life that takes precedence over all other things. In the meantime, I could use some serious prayer for my health and as always, for the spiritual health of my beloved Mormon people.

Now on to the quote by Mr. Christofferson! (more…)

General Conference, ‘Why the Covenant Path’, April 2021 “…there are many who, while not on the covenant path themselves, act in a way that mirrors the choices and contributions of those who are on the path. You might say they reap the blessings of walking a “covenant-consistent” path. What, then, is the difference of the covenant path?

Actually, the difference is uniquely and eternally significant. It includes the nature of our obedience, the character of God’s commitment to us, the divine help we receive, the blessings tied to gathering as a covenant people, and most importantly, our eternal inheritance.” — D. Todd Christofferson [emp. added] (more…)

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” Leviticus 17:11

General Conference, ‘Why the Covenant Path’, April 2021 “On the covenant path we also find the essential blessings of forgiveness and cleansing from sin. This is help that can come only through divine grace, administered by the Holy Ghost. … There is also a weekly gathering of the covenant people to the house of prayer on the Lord’s day, that we may “more fully keep [ourselves] unspotted from the world.” — D. Todd Christofferson (more…)

Liahona, ‘Why We Need Jesus Christ’, December 2020

Today we’re looking at an article in the upcoming Liahona. This article was supposed to be focused on Jesus’ birth, but as you’ll see in the text, it was far from anything to do with our Lord.

For the sake of brevity, we’re only looking at a few of the things mentioned. Originally, D. Todd Christofferson gave this talk at a 2017 BYU devotional. To read his talk in full, the link is provided above.

We’ve inserted comments/questions below. (more…)

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26

This year the Church’s dogged determination in denouncing Jesus while exalting Joseph was painfully obvious. From the dozen or so talks we’ve read from the April 2020 conference, it’d be impossible not to notice the imbued theme of their pseudo gospel message. We have yet to read anything solely focused on the Lord’s crucifixion, or His subsequent resurrection. For what it’s worth, there were 35 talks.

We’ve pulled a few more talks to compare with God’s word that you can read below.

As always, don’t forget to pray for Mormons to denounce the false god of Joseph Smith!

“The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?” Jeremiah 5:31

Today we’re looking at an article from the latest LDS Ensign. Once again the Church felt that members needed a reminder of why they should keep their leaders employed.

For the sake of brevity, we’re looking at just two quotes from the article. To read their article in full see Ensign, ‘200 Years of Light 1820-2020 What Church Leaders are Saying about Why We Need the Church,’ March 2020.

“To Have Living Prophets and Apostles

Why are we so willing to follow the voice of our prophet? For those diligently seeking eternal life, the prophet’s voice brings spiritual safety in very turbulent times. …

Anchoring our souls to the Lord Jesus Christ requires listening to those He sends. Following the prophet in a world of commotion is like being wrapped in a soothing, warm blanket on a freezing cold day. — Neil L. Andersen

To Teach and Preserve Doctrine

In the Church today, just as anciently, establishing the doctrine of Christ or correcting doctrinal deviations is a matter of divine revelation to those the Lord endows with apostolic authority. — D. Todd Christofferson…” (more…)

‘To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.’ Acts 26:18

The Bible verse above is our prayer for the Mormon people.

Today we’re looking at 3 quotes, and all have exhibited treacherous teachings. Each is a good summation of what they said in the talk they gave. To read their talks in full, click on corresponding links provided below.

Our main agenda with posting these things is to inform Mormons, and non-Mormons alike.

Please, pray for those who listened to these lies, and also for those who spread them. As we’ve been saying this week, if they’d turn to the Lord, they’d obviously turn from spreading lies about Him!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle

The talk we’re looking at today has to be one of the strangest I’ve seen in awhile. For the sake of brevity, I’ve pulled a few quotes to compare w/ God’s word.

Church News, 2019 Mission Leadership Seminar

The Book of Mormon is the most powerful written witness in existence that Jesus is the Christ…said D. Todd Christofferson…on Sunday, the opening day of the 2019 Mission Leadership Seminar.

This is obviously a lie. The Bible gives us everything we need to know for salvation and have a life here filled with His Spirit.

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

Yet too few of the Church’s missionaries, he noted, routinely teach from the scriptures. They often cite personal experiences, anecdotes or object lessons to explain gospel principles. Such techniques lack the “power of conviction” that comes from the scriptures. …

It’d be difficult to teach from something that contradicts itself, is sleepy, and plagiarizes the Bible. (more…)
