‘To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.’ Acts 26:18

The Bible verse above is our prayer for the Mormon people.

Today we’re looking at 3 quotes, and all have exhibited treacherous teachings. Each is a good summation of what they said in the talk they gave. To read their talks in full, click on corresponding links provided below.

Our main agenda with posting these things is to inform Mormons, and non-Mormons alike.

Please, pray for those who listened to these lies, and also for those who spread them. As we’ve been saying this week, if they’d turn to the Lord, they’d obviously turn from spreading lies about Him!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle

The talk we’re looking at today has to be one of the strangest I’ve seen in awhile. For the sake of brevity, I’ve pulled a few quotes to compare w/ God’s word.

Church News, 2019 Mission Leadership Seminar

The Book of Mormon is the most powerful written witness in existence that Jesus is the Christ…said D. Todd Christofferson…on Sunday, the opening day of the 2019 Mission Leadership Seminar.

This is obviously a lie. The Bible gives us everything we need to know for salvation and have a life here filled with His Spirit.

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

Yet too few of the Church’s missionaries, he noted, routinely teach from the scriptures. They often cite personal experiences, anecdotes or object lessons to explain gospel principles. Such techniques lack the “power of conviction” that comes from the scriptures. …

It’d be difficult to teach from something that contradicts itself, is sleepy, and plagiarizes the Bible. (more…)

April 5  — Blood of the Covenant. Hebrews 9:12-14; “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (more…)

Ensign, ‘The Power of Covenants,’ April 2009 “…Divine covenants make strong Christians. I urge each one to qualify for and receive all the priesthood ordinances you can and then faithfully keep the promises you have made by covenant. In times of distress, let your covenants be paramount and let your obedience be exact. Then you can ask in faith, nothing wavering, according to your need, and God will answer. He will sustain you as you work and watch. In His own time and way He will stretch forth his hand to you, saying, “Here am I.” …” — D. Todd Christofferson (more…)

d-todd-christofferson  “Abide in My Love,” Ensign, Nov. 2016, 48; “One of the terms we hear often today is that God’s love is ‘unconditional.’ While in one sense that is true, the descriptor unconditional appears nowhere in scripture. …

“God will always love us, but He cannot save us in our sins. Remember the words of Amulek to Zeezrom that the Savior would not save His people in their sins but from their sins, the reason being that with sin we are unclean and ‘no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of heaven’ [Alma 11:37] or dwell in God’s presence. … “Repentance, then, is His gift to us, purchased at a very dear price.” –  D. Todd Christofferson

1 John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”

cross-grace-how-amazing-it-is As I was looking at some of the highlights and quotes from this past General Conference one quote, in particular stood out to me. It’s from Elder D. Todd Christofferson, in referring to God’s love being “unconditional” he said:

“the word unconditional can convey mistaken impressions about divine love, such as, God tolerates and excuses anything we do because His love is unconditional, or God makes no demands upon us because His love is unconditional, or all are saved in the heavenly kingdom of God because His love is unconditional.”

flower 2The title of this month’s Visiting Teaching Message is ‘Marriage is Ordained of God’.

As most of you know, each month I find myself on my knees praying to sweet Jesus the next month’s message won’t be as bad, and much to my chagrin, somehow it’s the same, or even worse. Ugh.

Although this month’s message was pretty short, there were a few notable things to look at so we’re just going to jump right in, and ask questions as we go along.

Mormon Decisions 10General Conference, , “The Doctrine of Christ“, April 2012; “…it should be remembered that not every statement made by a Church leader,D. Todd Christofferson past or present, necessarily constitutes doctrine. It is commonly understood in the Church that a statement made by one leader on a single occasion often represents a personal, though well-considered, opinion, not meant to be official or binding for the whole Church.”

Mormon Decisions 10Ensign, December 2013, p 7; “As we come to understand more fully what it means for Jesus to be the Only Begotten Son of the Father, our faith in Christ will increase. Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said, “Faith in Jesus Christ is the conviction and assurance of (1) His status as the Only Begotten Son of God, (2) His infinite Atonement, and (3) His literal Resurrection.” 2 Modern prophets have testified: “[Jesus Christ] was … the Only Begotten Son in the flesh, the Redeemer of the world.” 3

D. Todd ChristoffersonThis past September one of the twelve apostles delivered a devotional speech at BYU which was the first of a three pronged effort to brace members of what they may find “questionable” information in the release of the Joseph Smith Papers. The papers are a seven volume work on the history of the Church that many people didn’t have access to before and much of what people will see might be non-“faith promoting” information.

This article isn’t the typical article you’ll read from me. This article investigates the cold hard truth of the ancient practice of cult prostitution and the similarities of the Mormon dogma that sex is necessary for salvation. If you don’t want to read any further click the back button now.

stickman thinking 3Today while retrieving info for the latest LDS General Conference I noticed an ominous article on the sidebar of the Church’s front page of their website.  It said;

Study what Joseph Smith Lived and Taught, Says Apostle”.

So I moseyed on over to have a look-see.  My thought?  Oh dear.
