Christofferson: ‘Not a Religion of Rationalization’
Today we’re looking at a comment made by LDS apostle Christofferson at the General Conference we retrieved from the Salt Lake Tribune.
As a heads up for the upcoming week’s posts, we’ll be posting an article each day from the conference although it won’t be in the way we’ve done so in past.
The reason for all this is because of what’s going on my life that takes precedence over all other things. In the meantime, I could use some serious prayer for my health and as always, for the spiritual health of my beloved Mormon people.
Now on to the quote by Mr. Christofferson!
Salt Lake Trib “Some modern believers seem to think that “because God’s love is all-embracing,” it is “‘unconditional,” and think that means “God’s blessings are ‘unconditional,’ and that salvation is ‘unconditional,’” said D. Todd Christofferson … “They are not.’”
Such people argue that Jesus “‘loves me just as I am’ and that is certainly true,” … “But he cannot take any of us into his kingdom just as we are, ‘for no unclean thing can dwell there, or dwell in his presence.’ Our sins must first be resolved.”
Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Hebrews 9:13-14 “For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
If Jesus’ blood isn’t good enough are your works good enough?
Christofferson is a smart guy and knows the only way to heaven is through Jesus – John 14:6. Moreover, our works are as filthy rags – Isaiah 64:6.
