May 3 — In an interview with two BYU professors Dallas Jenkins, who is the director of The Chosen said:
“I would say that there’s such a reverence and there’s such a genuine respect for Christ, which is great. You guys probably do that better than we evangelicals do it.”
When I saw the clip of him saying this, I was stunned. As I think about it now, I shouldn’t have been too stunned considering he believes Christians and Mormons worship the same Jesus.
How dare he say such a thing! If he’s truly a follower of Jesus Christ, and someone who knows the Bible he should know better. Clearly those things aren’t true for him. Affirming Mormon beliefs about Jesus isn’t going to save them from eternal separation from God. As a Christian this should have been his main concern.
I shared a link to the Wretched video where Todd Friel provides a clip of Dallas making this comment along with a link to the whole interview.
We need to keep him in prayer.
Another thing I stumbled across this weekend is from a Mormon Facebook page; it’s a picture of Jesus looking to
the Salt Lake Temple. Again, I was stunned, but I really shouldn’t have been. The implication by creating this picture seems to be that even Jesus is in awe of the temple. Why would he look fondly at a building where people perform works of salvation for themselves and the dead because they don’t believe his work on the cross was sufficient?
It makes me heartsick to see images like this and to hear people who claim to be Christians validate Mormonism and not confronting its false teachings. I want to see people saved from this religion and brought to an everlasting relationship with Jesus Christ.
In Christ,
Melissa Grimes
