“The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?” Jeremiah 5:31
Today we’re looking at an article from the latest LDS Ensign. Once again the Church felt that members needed a reminder of why they should keep their leaders employed.
For the sake of brevity, we’re looking at just two quotes from the article. To read their article in full see Ensign, ‘200 Years of Light 1820-2020 What Church Leaders are Saying about Why We Need the Church,’ March 2020.
“To Have Living Prophets and Apostles
Why are we so willing to follow the voice of our prophet? For those diligently seeking eternal life, the prophet’s voice brings spiritual safety in very turbulent times. …
Anchoring our souls to the Lord Jesus Christ requires listening to those He sends. Following the prophet in a world of commotion is like being wrapped in a soothing, warm blanket on a freezing cold day. — Neil L. Andersen

To Teach and Preserve Doctrine
In the Church today, just as anciently, establishing the doctrine of Christ or correcting doctrinal deviations is a matter of divine revelation to those the Lord endows with apostolic authority. — D. Todd Christofferson…”
Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”
The Church hasn’t been given ‘apostolic authority’ to change anything. The pretended deviations are the result of whatever they’ve produced, and tried to pass off as truth. We can know this because of what it says in Hebrews 4:12 —
‘For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.’
Obviously, they’ve not ‘preserved’ truth at all. The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price are proof of their guilt. The Church has spent untold millions of dollars decimating God’s Holy Word, to justify their rejection of Jesus.
Remember beloved, Christians find spiritual safety in what our Lord has already revealed in His word! 2 Timothy 3:14 —
“But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them”.
Looking at part of their headline which said, ‘200 Years of Light…’ tells us there’s another problem. It’s a major clue they’ve rejected the One and Only God, that being Christ Jesus and Him crucified! How do they answer to the previous 1,800 years since Jesus spilt His blood on the cross for mankind?
What about Jesus’ promise in John 16:33 where He told us to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world?
Lastly beloved, the biggest clue there’s something wrong is found in what isn’t present with their argument. Did you notice?
They didn’t use one biblical reference backing their claim. Shame on them!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Th e Old sarge found some scriptures that cover this very subject. Most Mormons, when given the choice to follow the Words of God or to follow the words of one of their leader, will choose the words of their leaders , most times
:But Peter and John said, “which is right in God’s eyes, to listen to you or to Him?” You be the judges.” (Acts 4:19)
“Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than Man.” (Acts 5:29)
