“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.” Acts 10:34-35
General Conference, ‘The Doctrine of Belonging,’ October 2022 “How blessed we are to see the day that Zion is being established simultaneously on every continent and in our own neighborhoods. As the Prophet Joseph Smith said, the people of God in every age have looked forward with joyful anticipation to this day, and “we are the favored people that God has made choice of to bring about the Latter-day glory.”
Having been given this privilege, we cannot permit any racism, tribal prejudice, or other divisions to exist in the latter-day Church of Christ. …
We should be diligent in rooting prejudice and discrimination out of the Church, out of our homes, and, most of all, out of our hearts. As our Church population grows ever more diverse, our welcome must grow ever more spontaneous and warm. We need one another.” — D. Todd Christofferson
Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Acts 17:26 “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.”
Once again, the Church is trying to make excuses by ignoring the elephant in the room and attempting to divert attention away from their own guilt.
While it’s always a good thing for leaders of any church to preach on the race issue, the LDS Church has to remind people not to be racist as they cling to their racist canon.
It’d be impossible to explain away what their founding prophet deemed holy with the numerous times he slammed nonwhite people. Keep in mind we’re only referring to their canon which means this doesn’t include all the comments made by other LDS leaders throughout its history.
For a list of the 21 racist verses in the BoM and the PoGP see Book of Mormon Racist Teachings.
Please pray for Jesus to intervene in the lives of these people and turn to Him who has never been racist and can provide salvation!
With Love in Christ —
Michelle
[…] Conference Quote: Rooting Racism Out of Church Impossible — D. Todd Christofferson […]
One book, “Mormonism and the Negro” is all one needs to read to learn just how racist the church has been since the beginning.
You’re absolutely right! You can find it on Amazon or any eBay site as well. It tells the real story of Mormonism.
