Despite what the LDS Church claims, ‘qualifying’ for the Lord’s Spirit, is quite simple beloved! As the Apostle Paul noted, it’s a confession of belief in your heart that Jesus is Lord. We see this again with events at Pentecost. The disciples were in attendance because they believed in Jesus.
Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
When I was LDS, I could sense there was something different in the demeanor of Christians I knew, and my own disposition. The difference was a stark one.
On the day of my salvation, the effects of accepting Jesus as my God, and Savior was immediate.

Ensign, “And upon the Handmaids in Those Days Will I Pour Out My Spirit,” May 2010, 11 “Qualifying for the Lord’s Spirit begins with a desire for that Spirit and implies a certain degree of worthiness. Keeping the commandments, repenting, and renewing covenants made at baptism lead to the blessing of always having the Lord’s Spirit with us.” — Julie B. Beck
