October 6 –– Simply ask. John 14:14, 16 “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever”.
Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Bottom line – nothing we could ever do can ‘qualify’ us to have God’s Spirit. Nothing. The whole reason He intervened by giving us His Son is because we’re sinners. Our works are as filthy rags (Is 64:6), making us ineligible to approach His righteous throne. Remember beloved, you can’t earn, nor can you purchase, a gift someone has given to you!
Today and tomorrow we’ll be looking at ways the LDS Church manipulates members by tricking them into thinking they must have a proper testimony to be a true believer. This has nothing to do with what the Lord told us in John!

“Let us do whatever is required to qualify for the Holy Ghost as our companion, and then let us go forward fearlessly so that we will be given the powers to do whatever the Lord calls us to do. That growth in power to serve may come slowly, it may come in small steps that are difficult for you to see, but it will come.” — Henry B. Eyring, “Serve with the Spirit”, Liahona and Ensign, November 2010”
[…] Simply Ask […]
Yes, the key word in John 14:6 is ‘give’ as in he will give you… even they call it the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Henry B. Eyring says let us do whatever is required. But when asked what shall we do that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered, ‘This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.’
AMEN TO THAT!
