Believing you can become a god immediately qualifies you as a polytheist. As a Mormon, the thought of that would’ve horrified me.
Lovingly explain to the Mormon you know they’re repeating behaviors we see in biblical accounts of people worshiping unknown gods in foreign temples – Acts 17:23, Romans 1:20-25.
The same goes for false teachings of leaders who claim they’re your god.
