Purifying Power of Blood

February 18 — Purifying Power of Blood. General Conference, ‘The Purifying Power of Gethsemane’, April 1985 “I am one of his witnesses, and in a coming day I shall feel the nail marks in his hands and in his feet and shall wet his feet with my tears. But I shall not know any better then than I know now that he is God’s Almighty Son, that he is our Savior and Redeemer, and that salvation comes in and through his atoning blood and in no other way.” — Bruce McConkie

John 19:30 “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” [emp. added]

Mr. McConkie’s words are just that – they’re words without meaning. The Church is beset with an endless list of must-dos and don’ts that hold no power. As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 1:18 the power is in His blood that He shed on the cross.

‘For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.’

McConkie gave his talk 40 years ago and the relevancy of his words are still ringing loud and clear. They say Jesus is their savior but they’re wrong!
