LDS: Better Off Dead Than Unclean

‘For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.’ 2 Timothy 1:7

May 27 — LDS: Better Off Dead Than Unclean. First Presidency Message, ‘We Believe in Being Chaste’, September 1981 “My son, you are going a long way from home. Your mother and I, and your brothers and sisters, will be with you constantly in our thoughts and prayers; we shall rejoice with you in your successes, and we shall sorrow with you in your disappointments. When you are released and return, we shall be glad to greet you and welcome you back into the family circle.

But remember this, my son: we would rather come to this station and take your body off the train in a casket than to have you come home unclean, having lost your virtue.” — President Marion G. Romney

2 Cor. 11:13 “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.”

_____

My goodness it’s a sad day to hear anyone say this let alone a man in such a high position. Romney was expressing pretty much the same thing Mr. Kimball did in 1969.

Not only that the 7th LDS prophet Heber J. Grant gave a similar talk.

In 1942 he told the young LDS boys to be sexually pure even though he was a practicing polygamist with three wives.

Making matters worse Marion George Romney came from a long line of polygamists. For whatever reasons he failed to mention that his family moved to Mexico to evade the Feds to avoid prosecution for polygamy.

These men are just parroting what their predecessors have said without taking the time to think about what they’re saying. They didn’t have to look too far back in their history. None other than Joe Smith himself was a perfect example of how they shouldn’t behave.

Pray for Mormons to turn to Jesus and not fall for the intimidation these men threaten them with!

With Love in Christ –

Michelle
