Adam and the Ten Commandments

November 17 — Adam Who is He, p. 58 “Some people have the idea that the Ten Commandments were first given by Moses when he directed the children of Israel and formulated their code of laws. This is not the case. These great commandments are from the beginning and were understood in righteous communities in the days of Adam. They are, in fact, fundamental parts of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the gospel in its fullness was first given to Adam.” (Doctrines of Salvation, 1:94-96)” – Mark E. Petersen

Proverbs 26:23-26 “Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross. 24 He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; 25 When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart. 26 Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.”

Mr. Petersen was so fixated with his own interpretations of God’s word it prevented him from speaking truth.

Where in the Bible does it even hint at the idea Adam had the Ten Commandments?

The sad part about this is seen how the majority of LDS members believe what Petersen taught and don’t bother checking it out for themselves.

Ask a Mormon if they believe the story about Adam. If they believe Adam had the Ten Commandments, then what’s the deal with Moses?

Don’t forget to let them know you ask out of concern and you’re not trying to patronize them!
