Perfection Cleanses Sin, not Jesus’ Blood

 March 15 — Journal of Discourses 7:299 “Has Jesus done anything that will bring salvation to you and me? The chief of what he has done is that he has revealed the plan of the Gospel…But whose blood has cleansed you and me? It is said that the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sins. Then why is it that we remain sinners? It is simply because the blood of Jesus has not cleansed us from sin…What is the reason? It is because we have not been found in that perfect path of obedience that ensures us a freedom from sin…We may talk of men being redeemed by the efficacy of his blood; but the truth is that that blood has no efficacy to wash away our sins. That must depend upon our own action.” — Amasa M. Lyman, LDS Apostle, December 25, 1859

We’re wondering why these people call themselves Christians when they espouse this type of doctrine.

Although Mr. Lyman preached this sermon 167 years ago the Church is still doing the same thing today.

I don’t recall any LDS talks where they’ve put the efficacy of Jesus’ blood over their own works. Case in point is how the Church recently paraded their 1.58 Billion dollar donations to several organizations.

For the Church this is another example that it’s all about what they’ve done while using the name of Jesus as an advertising platform.

Pray for LDS members to think about the behavior of the Church and ask themselves where Jesus fits in.
