March 15 — Journal of Discourses 7:299 “Has Jesus done anything that will bring salvation to you and me? The chief of what he has done is that he has revealed the plan of the Gospel…But whose blood has cleansed you and me? It is said that the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sins. Then why is it that we remain sinners? It is simply because the blood of Jesus has not cleansed us from sin…What is the reason? It is because we have not been found in that perfect path of obedience that ensures us a freedom from sin…We may talk of men being redeemed by the efficacy of his blood; but the truth is that that blood has no efficacy to wash away our sins. That must depend upon our own action.” — Amasa M. Lyman, LDS Apostle, December 25, 1859 (more…)

LDS Advice for Sexual Abuse Victims

October 29 — General Conference, ‘Healing the Tragic Scars of Abuse’, April 1992 “The victim must do all in his or her power to stop the abuse. Most often, the victim is innocent because of being disabled by fear or the power or authority of the offender. At some point in time, however, the Lord may prompt a victim to recognize a degree of responsibility for abuse. Your priesthood leader will help assess your responsibility so that, if needed, it can be addressed. Otherwise the seeds of guilt will remain and sprout into bitter fruit. Yet no matter what degree of responsibility, from absolutely none to increasing consent, the healing power of the atonement of Jesus Christ can provide a complete cure.” – Apostle Richard G Scott (more…)

Therefore, we have a vast capacity for love—it is part of our spiritual heritage. What and how we love not only defines us as individuals; it also defines us as a church. Love is the defining characteristic of a disciple of Christ.” — Dieter F. Uchtdorf (more…)

And I, Enos, knew that God could not lie; wherefore, my guilt was swept away. And I said: Lord, how is it done? September 11 — The Church News is celebrating Quentin L. Cook’s 85th birthday by highlighting some of his memorable quotes from the past year. Here is one that caught my attention.
“He is our Exemplar — our Advocate with the Father — and He accomplished everything necessary for us to return to the Father’s and the Son’s presence. We would be wise to follow Jesus Christ and receive the gifts that He has provided.”

May 6 — Put on a Little Lipstick. A while ago, I watched a video of a former Mormon discussing the following quote from M. Russell Ballard.
“You beautiful girls, don’t wander around looking like men. Put on a little lipstick now and then and look a little charming. It’s that simple. I don’t know why we make this whole process so hard.” (more…)

Our Search for Happiness—An Invitation to Understand the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, p. 14 “…our belief in Christ is not passive. We believe that He and our Heavenly Father continue to minister to mankind today through inspiration and revelation. The leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints function under His divine direction just as the early apostles and prophets did when His Church was fully upon the earth. Ours is an active, vibrant faith dedicated to serving the Lord and doing the things He would do if He were walking among us. As we do His will we feel His spirit, a peaceful, comforting presence that warms our souls with courage and faith and draws us ever closer to Him. And as we draw closer to Him, we learn to love Him and our Eternal Father, and we find ourselves showing our love for them by keeping their commandments—which helps us to become more like them.

Christian God v. Mormon god

If nothing else comes through our posts, let it be this one. It’s a warning for the body of Christ; beware dear ones, beware!
The LDS Church published an article this month serving as a reminder their tactics haven’t changed over the past 185 years. Their montage of attacks against the body of Christ is still the same stuff, on a different day. Because of its length we’re looking at only a part of this today, but will revisit it again.
Here in part is what Mr. Holland said –
Liahona, ‘Knowing the Godhead,’ January 2016 “
The Prophet Joseph Smith said, “It is the first principle of the gospel to know for a certainty the
character of God.”1 Furthermore, he added, “I want you all to know Him, and to be familiar with Him.”2 We must have “a correct idea of his … perfections, and attributes” and an admiration for “the excellency of [His] character.”3

Journal of Discourses 13:125; “Jesus made his appearance on the earth in the meridian of time, and he established his kingdom on the earth. But to fulfill ancient
prophecies the Lord suffered that kingdom to be uprooted; in other words, the kingdoms of this world made war against the kingdom of God, established eighteen centuries ago, and they prevailed against it, and the kingdom ceased to exist. The great beast that John saw made war with it and prevailed against it, and human institutions, without prophets or inspired men, usurped the place of the ancient kingdom of God.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, April 10, 1870

Notwithstanding My Weakness, p. 55; “On the other side of the veil, there are perhaps seventy billion people.
They need the same gospel, and releases occur here to aid the Lord’s work there. Each release of a righteous individual from this life is also a call to new labors. Those who have true hope understand this.
Therefore, though we miss the departed righteous so much here, hundreds may feel their touch there. One day, those hundreds will thank the bereaved for gracefully forgoing the extended association with choice individuals here, in order that they could help hundreds there. In God’s ecology, talent and love are never wasted. The hopeful understand this, too.” – Neal A. Maxwell
