‘Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let thy glory be above all the earth.’ Psalm 57:5

The psalm above is also a beloved song for Christians worldwide. It evokes believers to stand while singing, and reflect with awe the wonders of God Almighty, and the Power He alone holds.

Today’s LDS reference is a reminder of how the Mormon god is fixated on one thing, and that’s sex.

There’s absolutely no excuse for what Mr. Pratt said in his book, ‘The Seer’, and must be regarded as the highest form of debauchery. While everyone is familiar with Pratt’s explanation that the body of Jesus required both a mother and father, we thought it imperative to look at the rest of what he said. (more…)

The Seer, p.159 “One thing is certain, that there were several holy women that greatly loved Jesus –– such as Mary, and Martha her sister, and Mary Magdalene; and Jesus greatly loved them and associated with them much…now it would be very natural for a husband in the resurrection to appear first to his own dear wives, and afterwards show himself to his other friends. If all the acts of Jesus were written, we no doubt should learn that these beloved women were his wives.” – Orson Pratt, October 1853 (more…)

The Seer, p. 164; “… those whose names are not found on the tithing Books as having paid up the full amount of their tithing can in no wise be permitted to enter the holy temple and receive their endowments; those great and holy temple ordinances instituted from before the foundation of the world, as the only means by which the Saints can be exalted to the fullness of celestial glory, will be withheld from them, until the debt is cancelled: it is a debt which you owe the Lord; and it is for your good to pay it; as for the faithful servants of God it matters not to them whether you pay your tithing or not; the Church can get along without it; it is only for your own good that you are exhorted to obey the Lord in this thing, knowing that if you fail, you cannot receive the blessing.” – Orson Pratt, November 1853

Romans 8:5; “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”

Mormon Jesus 3How many times each day are we living ‘according to the flesh’? Do you stop to think about every action, and thought, you have on any given day? I know over the years I’ve become more alert to my reactions and even thoughts, to peripheral events around me. Our verse above gave me pause the other day when I came across the section of Pratt’s book.

Looking over many of the doctrines in Mormon canon, I was struck by the numerous times this phrase (according to the flesh) presented itself, so today we’re taking a look at just one example of how the Church has used it. I have to wonder if any of the Mormon people pick up on what Paul said in Romans…

As a heads up – this excerpt today is rather offensive. If you have a disposition that can’t stomach strong heresy,  you might want to stop reading at this point.

Job 36:26; “Behold, God is great, and we know him not, Neither can the number of his years be searched out.”

1 John 1:5; “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”

Deseret News God Born of a Woman 1‘Work’ in any ministry entails a lot of reading, and the longer someone is a Christian, the more comfortable and knowledgeable, they’ll become with His word. You learn that He is predictable, trustworthy, able to withstand any onslaught of what might come His way.

In my personal walk with the Lord I’m acutely aware of the times I’m not studying enough, or spending enough time in private prayer, and I’ve learned that it’s like this for all Christians. As someone matures in their life with the Lord, it becomes clearly apparent when study, or prayer time is lacking. The Lord lets them know through a variety of ways that the relationship isn’t where it should, or could be. This is one of the joys of knowing Him!

While I will always love this ‘job’ the Lord has given to me, the longer I’m a Christian and in ministry, I’ve noticed lately the more it hurts my heart for the Lord to read the things people in the Mormon Church say about Him. I used to say all the time that I couldn’t be more shocked about something I had read, but I learned about 20 years ago to stop thinking such things.

And that brings us to where we’re at for today!

During my everyday, regular type of research over the past few weeks, I’ve come upon some off-the-wall, random descriptions LDS leaders have said about different topics, i.e., gods, polygamy, race, blood atonement, et al. In light of my findings, don’t be surprised in the next several days if you see some of the things we’ve found!

Today the subject matter is about the god Mormons choose to worship.

The SeerThe Seer, “The Pre-existence of Man,” Vol. 1, No. 7, July, 1853, p. 98; “Spirits, though pure and innocent, before they entered the body, would become contaminated by entering a fallen tabernacle; not contaminated by their own sins, but by their connection with a body brought into the world by the fall, earthly, fallen, imperfect, and corrupt in its nature.  A spirit, having entered such a tabernacle, though it may commit no personal sin, is unfit to return again into the presence of a holy Being. . .” – Orson Pratt, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
