December 11 — God’s Promise Fulfilled Through Jesus, not Joseph Smith. Psalm 132:11 “The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.”
Acts 13:21-23 “And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years. 22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. 23 Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus”. LDS: Our Light Doesn’t Shine Brightly Enough
Posted in False Prophecies of the Mormon Church, tagged Ensign, May 1987, Neal Maxwell, Overcome even as I overcame on 11/21/2020| 3 Comments »
‘Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.’ Matthew 5:14
Ensign, ‘Overcome Even as I Overcame’, May 1987 “To help us become true disciples, the Lord has given us prophets and scriptures to strengthen us…
Feasting upon the fulness of the gospel will help us to overcome. Additionally, if we will keep our covenants, the covenants will keep us spiritually safe. …
However, our collective light does not yet shine brightly enough to be “a standard for the nations” (D&C 115:5).”
The Church would grow much faster now, numerically and spiritually, if it were not for the wickedness of the world…
It would also grow much faster if you and I were better by taking up the Christian cross daily (see Luke 9:23) …
Ours will be a time of great inversion as well as perversion, as some will call good evil and evil good (see Isa. 5:20; 2 Ne. 15:20; D&C 64:16; 2 Ne. 2:5). …
Peace has already been taken from the earth (see D&C 1:35).
Nation will rise against nation (see Matt. 24:7). It will also be a time of hardening as the love of many waxes cold and iniquity abounds (see D&C 45:27).” — Neal Maxwell (more…)

We Originally posted this in 2014, and updated it last year. In light of the latest major event with COVID-19 in 2020, we have a couple of questions…
Why hasn’t the Church denounced this man and his false teaching?
Why didn’t the LDS prophet warn people about this pandemic?!
Deposition of a Disciple, p 41 “A righteous people who trust in God are far more apt to be blessed with the kind of weather and food and brotherhood that makes famine less likely and sharing more likely than are people who have dismissed the Fatherhood of God and who then make an empty plea for the brotherhood of man. Those who live unrighteously will bring upon themselves the very calamities about which they are complaining in advance.” – Apostle Neal A. Maxwell

1 Corinthians 15:22, 45; “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”
BYU Speeches, Devotional, ‘A Wonderful Flood of Light,’ March 26, 1989; “We do not know how many inhabited worlds there are, or where they are. But certainly we are not alone. This is a universe of spiritual order, in which “Kolob is set nigh unto the throne of God, to govern all those planets which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest” (Abraham 3:9).” – Neal A. Acts 17:11; “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
Today’s post is a result of a couple of interesting quotes stemming from a PowerPoint
Presentation I found in a Google Web-cache. You can read it online, or watch a Video of Mr. Neal Maxwell’s presentation which contains most of what’s included in the PPT, The BYU Youtube version is called, ‘A Wonderful Flood of Light’, but fair warning: it’s 45 minutes long!
OR, if those two formats don’t strike your fancy, you can purchase the book from Amazon. We found the book is actually a compilation of Joseph Smith quotes Mr. Maxwell really liked, and the subsequent extolling of Smith, none of which had anything to do with God’s word.
70 Billion Dead Spirits Need to Hear the Gospel

Notwithstanding My Weakness, p. 55; “On the other side of the veil, there are perhaps seventy billion people.
They need the same gospel, and releases occur here to aid the Lord’s work there. Each release of a righteous individual from this life is also a call to new labors. Those who have true hope understand this.
Therefore, though we miss the departed righteous so much here, hundreds may feel their touch there. One day, those hundreds will thank the bereaved for gracefully forgoing the extended association with choice individuals here, in order that they could help hundreds there. In God’s ecology, talent and love are never wasted. The hopeful understand this, too.” – Neal A. Maxwell

Ensign, “A More Determined Discipleship”, February 1979, pg 70; “…not being ashamed of the of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ…In some ways, our second estate, in relationship to our first estate, is like agreeing in advance to surgery. Then the anesthetic of forgetfulness settles in upon us. Just as doctors do not de-anesthetize a patient in the midst of authorized surgery to ask him again if the surgery should be continued, so, after divine tutoring, we agreed to come here and to submit ourselves to certain experiences; it was an irrevocable decision.” – Neal A. Bible Bashing 101
Not My Will, but Thine; “Belief in Deity and in the literal resurrection are usually the first beliefs to be discarded when faith diminishes. Ironically, though we gratefully accept the Bible as the word of God, the very process of its emergence—resulting in a dilution or loss of plain and precious truths—has, alas, led to a slackening or weakening of the Christian faith on the part of some—naturally, with an accompanying diminution of obedience to God’s commandments. Because available Bible sources are not “originals,” however, but represent dated derivations and translations, the “other books” of scripture which have come to us directly are even more to be prized.” – Neal Maxwell
2 Timothy 2:3-4, 15; “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.”
