False Prophecies of the Mormon Church

Kingdom of God was the Garden of Eden in America

Journal of Discourses 8:196; In the beginning, after this earth was prepared for man, the Lord commenced his work upon what is now called the American continent, where the Garden of Eden was made. In the days of Noah, in the days of the floating of the ark, he took the people to another part of the earth: the earth was divided, and there he set up his kingdom.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 7, 1860

Mark 1:14; Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

The Garden of Eden was probably on the Euphrates.  Genesis 2:10-14 names four rivers; Pison, Gihon, Hiddelekel and the Euphrates.  None of those four rivers are in Independence, MO or America for that matter!

There is a lot of confusion and false teachings and prophecies in the LDS excerpt above but for now we’re looking at just one topic.  The Kingdom of God.

The Kingdom of God was instituted when Jesus came to earth.  It is not a place, nor was it ever mentioned in the Old Testament.  The kingdom of God is the rule of God.  It is independent of geographical or political boundaries and it was not a group of people.

People can do nothing to make it bigger as it is the sovereign work of God where He alone reigns.  Jesus often invited people to enter the kingdom of God where they could find forgiveness, salvation and love from the Father.
