Mormon Dilemma 270

Book of Mormon Declares Bible is True

Discourses of Brigham Young, pg 127; “What do the infidel world say about the Bible? They say that the Bible is nothing better than last year’s almanac; it is nothing but a fable of priestcraft, and it is good for nothing. The Book of Mormon, however, declares that the Bible is true, and it proves it; and the two prove each other true.”

Journal of Discourses 2:75-76; “The words contained in this Bible are merely a history of what is gone by; it was never given to guide the servant of God in the course he should pursue, any more than the words and commandments of God, given to a generation under one set of circumstances, would serve for another generation under another set of circumstances…The Bible is not a sufficient guide; it is only the history of the people who lived 1800 years ago. The history of our Church in this day, presents the scenes and transactions of this people—the revelations and words of God to them…” – Orson Hyde, Salt Lake City, October 6, 1854

Romans 10:17; “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

I guess this means their “God appointed” apostle is an infidel?  We can be saved by reading the Bible.  Growing in the Lord requires obedience to Him.  Going to church, learning from other Christians and obeying what He says in the Bible is how we grow, but it isn’t how we’re saved.  It would be difficult to be a Christian and never read your Bible.
