No Pre-existence, God Created the Earth, His Spirit Indwells Believers in Book of Mormon
Psalm 33:6; “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.”
There were three contradictions, better known as lies, told in the passage from the Book of Mormon today. Let’s take a look at each to determine what they are and what Mormons really believe.
1. Ammon said the Mormon god created all things in heaven and earth.
Mormonism teaches that God didn’t have the power to create the earth in addition to the story that the earth is eternal.
www.lds.org; “Under the direction of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ created the heavens
and the earth (see Mosiah 3:8; Moses 2:1). From scripture revealed through the Prophet
Joseph Smith, we know that in the work of the Creation, the Lord organized elements
that had already existed (see Abraham 3:24). He did not create the world “out of
nothing,” as some people believe.”
2. Ammon said that God created man. Again, this is contradictory to what Joseph Smith taught.
Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 354; “All the fools and learned and wise men from the beginning of creation, who say that the spirit of man had a beginning, prove that it must have an end; and if that doctrine is true, then the doctrine of annihilation would be true. But if I am right, I might with boldness proclaim from the house-tops that God never had the power to create the spirit of man at all. God himself could not create himself.”
3. Ammon said the Holy Ghost resides inside of him. This is not Mormon theology. The Holy Ghost can inspire someone to do something good but in Mormonism the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost does not and cannot dwell inside the believer. They also don’t believe the HS is omnipresent.
Doctrines of Salvation 1:38, 49; “The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead. He is a Spirit, in the form of a man. The Father and the Son are personages of tabernacle; they have bodies of flesh and bones. The Holy Ghost is a personage of Spirit, and has a spirit body only.fn His mission is to bear witness of the Father and the Son and of all truth. 49 THE OMNIPRESENT HOLY SPIRIT. The Holy Ghost should not be confused with the Spirit which fills the immensity of space and which is everywhere present. This other Spirit is impersonal and has no size, nor dimension; it proceeds forth from the presence of the Father and the Son and is in all things. We should speak of the Holy Ghost as a personage as “he” and this other Spirit as “it,” although when we speak of the power or gift of the Holy Ghost we may properly say “it.””
