Reformed Egyptian

Mormon 9:32; “And now, behold, we have written this record according to our knowledge, in the characters which are called among us the reformed Egyptian, being handed down and altered by us, according to our manner of speech.”

Hosea 2:17; “For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.”

If the Nephites were speaking Reformed Egyptian circa 400 AD then God is a liar and shouldn’t be trusted. 

There’s one other thing to think about when it comes to this cast of characters in the Book of Mormon…why were the Jaredites speaking Reformed Egyptian? 

They had just left the Tower of Babel and the text says their language wasn’t confounded… 

Ether 1:35; “And it came to pass that the brother of Jared did cry unto the Lord, and the Lord had compassion upon Jared; therefore he did not confound the language of Jared; and Jared and his brother were not confounded.” 

How could these things be circa 2,200 BC if the Egyptians at this time were speaking either Archaic or Old Egyptian? Nephites in 600 BC should have been speaking Demotic Egyptian and Coptic in the first century AD. There’s no record of anything referred to as Reformed Egyptian.

God said He was going to remove the idols out of His children’s memories and actions which He did so why are the Nephites still speaking this unheard of form of Egyptian?
